Kelsey Mitchell’s Painfully Honest Response To Indiana Fever’s Winning Record.
On Sunday, Kelsey Mitchell and the Indiana Fever defeated the Dallas Wings 100-93. The Fever still remain one of the hottest teams in the WNBA post-Olympic break, winning their last four and six of their last seven. With the win, the Fever secured a 17-16 record. Not only is this the first time Indiana has had a winning record this season, but it’s the first time they have had more wins than losses in over five years.
Mitchell has been through some of the low points the Fever have had in recent memory. When asked how she felt about their new record, Mitchell gave an honest response.
“I know what the bottom feels like, and I don’t wanna be there no more,” Mitchell said.
The best season Mitchell has seen with Indiana was in 2019, when the Fever finished with a 13-21 record. Mitchell joined the Fever in 2018 as the No. 2 overall pick. Since then, Mitchell has experienced four single-digit win seasons and two first-overall picks, which turned into Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark.
Against the Wings, Mitchell tallied a game-high 36 points on 12-of-22 shooting, six rebounds and three assists. Clark added 28 points and 12 assists.
