Coach of the Indiana Fever Talks About Caitlin Clark’s Technical Foul.

Following the team’s May 28 loss against the Los Angeles Sparks, Christie Sides, head coach of the Indiana Fever, talked with reporters and discussed her feelings on Caitlin Clark’s technical foul.

Sides told reporters, “We’re talking to the officials too much. “We must not become involved in that. All we have to do is play our part and let others handle their duties. Technicals shouldn’t be given to us. Give me the technical details.With 30 points in the game, Clark had the most in her WNBA career to date. With 2.7 seconds remaining in the first quarter, she was also assessed a technical foul after disputing with the referee about a foul decision.Clark has already received two technical fouls this season. On May 20, the opening matchup was against the Connecticut Sun. According to Fox News, Clark yelled at the referee, “It’s a [expletive] foul,” during the game’s fourth quarter after handing the ball over.
After the game, Sides told reporters, “It’s really hard to feel good about my performance at all right now.” It was an at-home match. We were meant to win this game.

As an alternative to “having our teammates’ backs,” she pointed to excessive turnovers and fouls. “We’re reaching and fouling instead of stepping over and stopping them [and] having our teammates’ backs,” the woman remarked. “That is merely a lack of self-control.”

On November 4, 2022, Sides was appointed head coach of the Indiana Fever. She had previously worked with the Chicago Sky (2011–2016), Fever (2018–2019), and Atlanta Dream (2022) as an assistant coach. According to her team bio, she also assisted in coaching teams in Slovakia and Russia while holding collegiate coaching roles at Louisiana State University and Northwestern University.
