Even with their recent public appearances, Meryl Streep and Martin Short aren’t seeming to be putting an end to rumors of their affair.

The Only Murders in the Building co-stars, who swear they’re simply pals, only stoked rumors last week when they were seen holding hands at the show’s premiere party on the Paramount lot in Hollywood.
The unmistakable synergy between Short, 74, and Streep 75 was evident even to those in attendance.

One insider told Page Six about their close bond, “It’s gotta be more than a ‘showmance.’ There is definitely something there.”

The source also described the pair as “sweet” and “cute,” noting how they were “in great spirits, laughing” together throughout the night.

Even their co-star Selena Gomez called the duo’s on-screen bond “so sweet” in an interview with Extra published Monday, August 26.

When asked about their off-screen connection, Short didn’t shy away from expressing his affection for Streep.

During the same interview, he gushed about Streep, “I think it’s been a friendship that always grows if you work with someone and love that person.”

Despite the growing buzz, a rep for Streep maintained that the two are “just friends.”

The famed actor lands what appears to be her first hit on the TikTok Billboard Top 50. Streep debuts at No. 36 on the latest edition of Billboard’s ranking of the most popular tracks on TikTok with a tune titled “Slipping Through My Fingers.”

Streep hasn’t pivoted from acting to music, though. One of the songs she recorded for the film Mamma Mia! hits the TikTok Billboard Top 50 in a very odd showing, as “Slipping Through My Fingers” has become an unexpected and highly delayed hit–at least on one platform.

“Slipping Through My Fingers” is actually a duet, and it helps two beloved actresses reach the TikTok Billboard Top 50. Streep is credited alongside Amanda Seyfried, who played her daughter in the film adaptation of the successful Broadway musical.

The tune is, of course, originally by ABBA, as are all the cuts in Mamma Mia!. “Slipping Through My Fingers” was released by the Swedish pop band in 1981 on their album The Visitors. It was never a huge hit, like so many other tracks in the film/musical, though it fits the storyline perfectly, so it was included.
