It’s unfortunate for the rest of the WNBA that Caitlin Clark and the Fever are playing with such joy.
Recall the time when Caitlin Clark looked like she was going to have an extremely challenging rookie season and the Indiana Fever were the poorest club in the league?
Not me either.
At the start of seasons 1–8, The Fever appeared destined for one more year in the lottery. In the early going, it seemed like Indiana was losing every night. Two 36-point losses to the Liberty, a historically poor defense, and an inconsistent rotation were all present. However, great things take time to come together, and the Indiana Fever this time around was well worth the wait. The Fever are 13-6 in their past 19 games and have won three straight. For the first time since 2016, they are a.500 team and hold the sixth seed right now.
After the Fever defeated the Chicago Sky on Friday, head coach Christie Sides remarked, “It feels good to be sitting at.500 right now.” “The Fever hasn’t been at.500 in a very long time. Simply put, I’m quite proud of that and where we’ve come from.
In that game, Caitlin Clark scored a game-high 31 points, and Kelsey Mitchell kept up her excellent play. Only two days prior, Mitchell led the way with 23 points in a clutch-time victory over the seasoned Connecticut Sun on the road in Chicago.
After the Sun game on Wednesday, Sides stated, “For me, just the maturity and the toughness that my players showed tonight was just incredible.” “We’re just witnessing them mature from where we began to where they are today.”In that game, Caitlin Clark scored a game-high 31 points, and Kelsey Mitchell kept up her excellent play.
