Caitlin Clark of the Fever overcomes a sore ankle to tie the WNBA rookie record in their victory over Dream.
Monday night, Caitlin Clark overcame a near-accident and set yet another WNBA rookie record as the Indiana Fever defeated the Atlanta Dream, 84-79.
Clark finished with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists on 6 of 14 shots from the field. Clark equaled the WNBA rookie record with 85 3-pointers made in a single season after making four of them. For the record, she is tied with Rhyne Howard of the Dream.Prior to the end of the first half, the youngster for the Fever also had to battle through a frightening ankle injury. She got up and left the court on her own, returning for the second half.
“I watched the replay, and I seem so frail. It stung, but it wasn’t a nasty turn,” she said to reporters following the game, according to the Indy Kelsey Mitchell scored 29 points to lead the Fever. Aliyah Boston finished with 11 rebounds and 14 points. Off the bench, Damaris Dantas scored 11 points.
With the victory, Indiana moved up to 14-16 as they keep trying to qualify for the postseason. Since they concluded the 2016 season with a 17–17 record, their 14 victories are the most. 2019 and 2023 saw 13 victories for them.
Double digits were reached by four out of the five Dream starters. Allisha Gray scored twelve points, Jordin Canada scored ten, and Howard scored sixteen.
