Injury Report for the Philadelphia Phillies on August 24.
The Philadelphia Phillies (74-54), who are still struggling in the second half of the season, are still looking for solutions. The Phillies need anything to get them back to their first-half levels of productivity since their offense has been struggling in comparison to their first-half output and because the back end of the rotation is a rotating door.
The Phillies might just get the much-needed spark this weekend when two of their players return from the injured list. The Philadelphia Phillies’ most recent injury news and updates are provided below.
Hays (strained left hamstring) returned to the starting lineup for the Phillies on Friday in their 72-56 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Hays would score one run on his comeback.
Hays’s ailment prevented him from playing till after August 7th. Before his injury, he was starting to heat up at the plate, and the Phillies are hoping he can find his groove again.
According to manager Rob Thomson, Hays will have occasional days off in the near future as he gets back into playing every day.
In order to create place for Hays on the 26-man roster, outfielder Cal Stevenson was optioned.
In order to make his comeback on Saturday, Suarez (10-5, 2.87 ERA; lower back pain) has been activated from the 10-day disabled list. Suarez is one of the Phillies’ best pitchers this year, and the team is hoping he can get back to his previous level and help lock down the rotation in the final stretch.
Suarez was added to the 26-man roster by optioning Tyler Gilbert.
