The Dallas Cowboys are the first sports franchise valued at more than $10 billion.
According to Sportico, the Dallas Cowboys are the first sports franchise in history to have a market worth of $10 billion.
According to Sportico’s yearly rankings, which were released on Tuesday and include all 32 NFL clubs, the Cowboys are valued at $10.32 billion. The Los Angeles Rams, who were ranked second, were valued at $7.79 billion, $2.53 billion less than the Cowboys. The New England Patriots ($7.31 billion), the New York Giants ($7.65 billion), and the San Francisco 49ers ($6.86 billion) rounded out the top three. The Miami Dolphins ($6.76 billion) and New York Jets ($6.8 billion) came in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
The Philadelphia Eagles ($6.75 billion) and the Washington Commanders ($6.3 billion), the last two NFC East representatives, are ranked ninth and tenth, respectively, with the Las Vegas Raiders ($6.7 billion) in between.
The Cowboys are the first sports club in history to be valued at $9 billion, according to a Forbes assessment from just last September. The Cowboys were the only club within $1 billion of the Golden State Warriors, with an estimated $8.28 billion, according to Sportico’s February assessment, which valued the team at $9.2 billion.
Under Jerry Jones’ ownership, the Cowboys’ franchise value has continuously outpaced that of all other sports teams worldwide, even though the team hasn’t advanced to the Super Bowl or even an NFC title game since the 1995 campaign.
The Cowboys have not advanced past the divisional round in their previous 13 postseason appearances, with five victories and thirteen defeats. The Cowboys’ most recent home loss in the 2023 wild-card playoff round came from a 48-32 loss to the Green Bay Packers.Even with the franchise valued at $10.32 billion, Jones has been reluctant to give standout wide receiver CeeDee Lamb a new contract. While negotiating a new contract, Lamb has not participated in the team’s training camp thus far this summer. Jones stated on Thursday that there was no rush to reach an agreement.
