Cleveland Browns Still Have This Plan in Place for QB Deshaun Watson.
The Cleveland Browns still have this plan in place for starting quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Two of the Cleveland Browns’ three preseason games are over. The Browns will go to Seattle to play the Seahawks in their last dress rehearsal next week. It has been claimed that Deshaun Watson will participate in the match. Nonetheless, there has been conjecture that Cleveland would reconsider given the offensive line injuries the team has sustained.
The Browns lost three more offensive lineman to injury yesterday during the team’s preseason loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Germain Ifedi, Hakeem Adenji, and James Hudson III all departed the game hurt. With several players still sidelined by injuries, that has left the offensive line very thin on depth. It might not be wise to start Watson alongside backup offensive lineman. He has struggled with injuries in the past several years, so it would be cruel to open the season with a strange preseason accident that keeps him out of the game.
However, getting Watson a few game reps before Week 1 would also be valuable.
It’s a dangerous situation that Cleveland finds itself in. They can always hope that some of their offensive line pieces are able to make a return to the field before next week. If not, they would be playing a scary game by throwing Watson out on the field.
