Michael Harris II, an outfielder for the Braves, will start a minor league rehab assignment with Gwinnett.
If all goes as planned, Harris is scheduled to return in a week. On the injury front for the Atlanta Braves, there is some good news for once: center fielder Michael Harris will report to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday night to start his rehab assignment. Due to a hamstring ailment, Harris hasn’t played since June 14. He is presently on a 60-day injured list. He can come back starting on August 14, when the Braves are in San Francisco for a 10-day, 10-game road trip across the west coast. Following the All Star Game, Harris was expected to make a comeback due to his hamstring injury, but a small setback caused him to miss a few weeks of play.
Before the injury, Harris’s season was not going well for him at the plate, with an 81 wRC+ and batting just.250/.295/.358. Adding the gifted outfielder to the middle of the lineup, where he will likely hit now that Jorge Soler is in the leadoff spot, should only aid the Braves in their quest to pass the Phillies in the NL East, regardless of his past performance. Harris should be visible to fans in the Memphis region as the Stripers continue their series against the Redbirds through Sunday. Make sure Harris is playing on that particular day by looking up the lineups in advance.
