Braves would be better off with an All-Star Blue Jays player on the trade block.
Two weeks remain until the official Major League Baseball trade deadline of 2024.
Teams have two weeks to decide on their strategies, and the deadline is quickly approaching. After the deadline passes on July 30th, it is anticipated that the Atlanta Braves would try to bolster their starting rotation by bringing in a more seasoned pitcher.
The left-hander Yusei Kikuchi of the Toronto Blue Jays is one athlete who might fit in perfectly. He has been a member of the Blue Jays since before the 2022 season, but it appears like a move could be in the works.
Over the past month, trade speculations have highlighted Kikuchi, who could provide the Blue Jays with a “significant return,” according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports.
“The free-falling Blue Jays will soon start their fire sale while keeping Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr,” Nightengale stated. “Starter Yusei Kikuchi is the only player, according to Rival General Managers, who will provide a sizable return. The promising future of the Blue Jays appears cloudy at this moment.
Kikuchi has made a league-high 20 starts this season and has a 4.42 ERA thus far. He might be a good choice to strengthen the Braves’ back end in the final stretch as the team attempts to make yet another deep postseason run.
Despite some serious injuries keeping them from playing at their best, the Braves should still be regarded as a contender in the National League. Hiring a person such as Kikuchi would only serve to emphasize this point more.
