“Take your time,” advises Pigeon Forge During Spring Rod Run, police issue a traffic congestion warning.
WATE: PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. The police department is alerting motorists that navigating Pigeon Forge “will be a challenge” due to expected traffic congestion, even as car aficionados and onlookers prepare to enjoy this weekend’s springtime Pigeon Forge Rod Run. Since traffic congestion is a known problem in the area, law enforcement officials are ready to assist vehicles and tourists who may be going through or who intend to attend the car show. The city claims that millions of people visit Pigeon Forge annually. Among the many attractions in the region is the Spring Rod Run.
The Pigeon Forge Police Department posted on social media that “traffic volume will be heavy due to a large car show this weekend, April 07–10, 2022.” It will be difficult to get through and around Pigeon Forge. You’ll need to exercise patience and observation due to the congestion. The evenings of Friday and Saturday will see the most traffic. There will be heavy traffic on primary, secondary, and tertiary routes, resulting in long wait times. To get around the traffic in the neighborhood, you will need to make advance plans. In certain instances, travel times will be hours rather than minutes.
Additionally, Pigeon Forge Police provided the following advice to anyone driving or walking around the region this weekend: Don’t rush anything. Be mindful of pedestrians at all times. If you’re a pedestrian, keep an eye out for cars.Shift to the right if your speed is lower. Avoid merging close to an intersection if you are attempting to move into the right lane. The intersection will be blocked as a result. Park in areas with lines to avoid obstructing traffic.
The Spring Rod Run is happening April 7-9 at the LeConte Event Center on Teaster Lane. Parking in the two large lots at the LeConte Event Center is free and a shuttle service will also be available.
