Christie Sides’ firing for Caitlin Clark’s coaching decision during the loss is hated by Fever supporters.
The Indiana Fever lost against the Washington Mystics on Wednesday, which was unfortunate. It was expected that Indiana would win rather easily because the Mystics were 5-17 going into the game and the Fever were playing at home. Owing to erratic performance and dubious coaching choices made by head coach Christie Sides, the Fever lost badly, which will hurt them in the WNBA standings.
During the game’s last possession, Sides made a contentious play that was intended for someone other than Caitlin Clark. “Christie Sides watched Caitlin Clark drop 29 and decided to draw up a play where she wouldn’t touch the ball with 16 seconds left….” a fan wrote. “Caitlin Clark’s coach Christie Sides is the only person who can stop her. She hasn’t even touched the ball in at least three occasions when the game has come down to a last shot. Horrible coaching,” said a second.
A third fan said, “Dumb coach Christie Sides must B fired! And she’s still taking CLARK out 4 defense?! Ugh!”
It’s inexcusable for Clark to not even touch the ball during the game’s most important possession.

Caitlin Clark felt out of place with the WNBA’s Wednesday schedule since she isn’t used to playing so early on gamedays, especially if it’s a weekday. However, that didn’t change the fact that the rookie Indiana Fever had a good day. For those who don’t know, Wednesday’s game between the Fever and the Washington Mystics was set at 12 p.m. by the WNBA since it was kids’ or camp day. The league is able to persuade young fans to join summer camps and field trips to witness the games live by scheduling games earlier than usual.
Following the Fever’s 89-84 loss in the Mystics match, Clark was questioned about the entire kids day experience. The Fever sharpshooter stressed that having so many children watch them was unique, even though she acknowledged that it was “kind of weird” due to the early tip-off. Indeed, this is a fantastic day. It’s kind of strange that it’s an early tip on a Wednesday, of course. However, it creates a unique memory for them. I hope they will be able to remember this. According to Matthew Byrne, Clark said.
In any case, the WNBA faced a lot of criticism for their Wednesday schedule. To many new fans, it was simply inconceivable that the league had scheduled such a schedule for a weekday. To make matters worse, the WNBA scheduled the Fever’s game to begin concurrently with the Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dream’s matchup. But since the league made a lot of kids smile, it’s definitely worth it, according to Caitlin Clark’s remarks.
