Due to an elbow injury, the former second-round pick of the Atlanta Braves will miss the whole 2019 season.
The pitchers on the Atlanta Braves roster are excellent and becoming better. After being injured, A.J. Minter just got back. Ian Anderson is making progress in his rehabilitation, and AJ Smith-Shawver is almost ready to make a comeback as well.
But another promising talent for the Braves is out for the upcoming season due to an elbow injury. Before the end of the month, Cade Kuehler is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in Florida, as per a reliable source. He will work on his pitching arm rehabilitation with the FCL Braves for the next year and a half.
According to MLB.com, Kuehler is ranked as the eighth best prospect in the Atlanta Braves farm system. At last year’s draft, he was selected in the second round out of Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina.
In Augusta, he had been pitching effectively this season. Kuehler’s record with the GreenJackets was 3-5. Furthermore, his 2.52 ERA was noteworthy despite his lackluster record. With a 1.22 WHIP and 44 strikeouts against just 30 walks, he had demonstrated strong command.
Before the Braves selected Kuehler in 2023, he had a fantastic career at Campbell and turned 22 in May.
From his Campbell bio at Kuehler’s:
