Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese makes WNBA history once again. What did she do?
At the greatest level, the one thing that consistently matters the most is the star in the sky. It begs the question of how far she will go.
In case it wasn’t evident, one of the biggest stars in the WNBA isn’t an Indiana Fever player. In fact, the rookie for the Chicago Sky has literally taken the league by storm, and her most recent accomplishment should dispel any doubts about her value.
There is no Angel Reese.
If you saw the Chicago Sky’s game against the Las Vegas Sky, the defending WNBA champions, on Thursday night, you will know that it wasn’t their best performance; the Sky fell short, 95-83. However, it served as just another example of Angel Reese’s exceptional talent. The rookie for the Sky broke a WNBA record, proving once more that she is not at all scared of the step up to the professional game.
The former LSU standout, who was chosen with the seventh overall choice in the WNBA Draft in April, finished the game with 18 points and 11 rebounds to record another double-double. As we previously covered, this has become rather of a habit for the 22-year-old. On this particular occasion, though, Reese created history by recording her ninth straight double-double, which tied her with Candace Parker for the most in a season. She also became the youngest player in league history to record nine consecutive double-doubles.
It should be noted that, following her 25 points and 16 rebounds in last Sunday’s victory over Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, Thursday night’s effort was not her finest during this record run of games. Speaking of Clark, the former standout player for Iowa State made waves last week with a record of her own and is still the talk of the town. However, perhaps it’s time for people to look at what’s happening in the “Windy City.” However, those who still have doubts about Reese can watch him in action on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. ET when the Sky play the Minnesota Lynx. Make sure not to miss it.
