The second-round selection in this year’s WNBA draft, Cameron Brink, is optimistic despite presumably having suffered a season-ending ACL injury in her left knee early this month.
With a series of images that highlight her resiliency and hope, the rising star just gave her first update since the injury on Instagram.
“So much change, yet so much joy,” Brink wrote as the post’s description, perfectly capturing her capacity to find joy in the face of hardship.
Brink can be seen grinning and having fun in all three of the pictures with her sweet puppy, Olive, and her boyfriend, Ben Felter.
Brink is shown in the first picture in the series on crutches and covering her right leg with a blue leg sleeve.
She is standing next to Felter, who is taking the photo while carrying Olive in a bag.
Felter, a former rower for Stanford, got to know Brink when they were both students there.
Brink left her mark as the NCAA basketball national champion and Naismith Defensive Player of the Year, while Felter focused on being the best rower in the country
In the second picture, Felter is seen carrying Olive as Brink uses crutches as they go through a parking lot in the sun.
A video of Olive having fun while running in the grass appears on the last slide, bringing some happiness to the post.
Along with the image, Brink also published an Instagram story in which she was seen lying on what looked to be a physical therapy table and holding Olive.
One candidate for WNBA Rookie of the Year was Cameron Brink.
Brink was having a fantastic season before to her accident, averaging 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game in 15 games.
On May 26, in a close game against the Dallas Wings, she scored a career-high 21 points.
Additionally, Brink was scheduled to compete for Team USA in the 3-on-3 category at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
Sadly, Dearica Hamby, a teammate of Sparks, has taken her place due to injuries.
The Los Angeles Sparks have suffered without Brink, losing both of their games since her injury. They are presently on a six-game losing streak.
The Sparks and Phoenix Mercury will play another hard game on Friday.
