A message to the WNBA is sent by Caitlin Clark prior to the Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky game.
Star of the Indiana Fever Caitlin Clark discussed the impending matchup with the Chicago Sky.
The Atlanta Dream were defeated by the Indiana Fever on Friday, 91-79, for their fourth straight victory. When Indiana plays the Chicago Sky on Sunday, they will put their winning streak to the test in the midst of their greatest stretch of the season.
Indiana and Chicago will play for the third time this season; the Fever has won the previous two. When questioned about the supposed rivalry between Indiana and Chicago prior to this game, Fever star Caitlin Clark responded that it was more of a narrative pushed by the media
Clark told the journalists, “I’m pretty sure the only people that view this as a rivalry is all of you.” “To us, it seems like just another basketball game… Absolutely, that’s fantastic if it helps advance the game. That’s how things ought to be. It might be discussed by people.”
Although Clark played down the rivalry between herself and fellow rookie Angel Reese, she sent a message to the WNBA stating that this game ought to take place at the United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls.
“I saw the ticket prices, I guess the only thing is I’m surprised we’re not playing at the United Center,” Clark added. “I thought that would have been really good for the game and really good for all the women’s basketball fans in Chicago. Maybe there’s a conflict of some sort that I don’t know about. Obviously, that’s a little above my pay grade, but we’re excited. One game at a time.”
The Fever vs. Dream game on Friday night was shifted to State Farm Arena, where more than 17,000 spectators packed the house. This is not the first time that a Clark’s game has been moved to a larger location.
As Clark indicated, there might be a conflict that prevents Sunday’s game from being shifted to United Center, but it would be fantastic for the WNBA if as many fans as possible could attend this highly anticipated showdown.
