Another Pitcher Lost to an Elbow Injury for the Atlanta Braves.
With effect from June 16, Atlanta announced that left-handed pitcher Ray Kerr has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a left elbow UCL damage. On June 15, the Braves originally optioned Kerr to Triple-A Gwinnett; however, that decision has since been revoked.
The 29-year-old Kerr has started two of the Braves’ ten games this season. His 22.1 innings pitched translate into an ERA of 5.64, although eight of the 14 runs he gave up were in his two starts, totaling 7.2 innings pitched.
Before sustaining an elbow injury on June 15 against the Tampa Bay Rays, the 6-3, 185-pound Kerr made his final four appearances out of the bullpen. He has been more successful as a reliever.
In addition to Hurston Waldrep and Tyler Matzek, who are on the 15-day IL, and Spencer Strider and Huascar Ynoa, who are on the 60-day IL, Kerr is just one of several Braves arms who have an elbow injury.
Even yet, Atlanta’s playing injured, both in the outfield (where Michael Harris II and Ronald Acuña Jr. have lost their lives to injury) and on the pitching staff.
Nevertheless, the Braves are winning, and they hope to keep winning when they play the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Monday night at 7:45 p.m. EST.
