Angel Reese Revealed That She Considered Quitting Basketball Before Caitlin Clark Rivalry.
As a result, not many people are aware of the several obstacles she had to overcome in order to join the WNBA.
Reese’s foot fracture suffered during her time as a player at the University of Maryland is the primary cause of her troubles. She needed to have surgery, have a screw placed in her foot, and recuperate for 12 weeks as a result.
After returning, Reese broke her tibia, which required a rod’s insertion in her leg.
But the mental struggles stemming from these injuries were even worse for Reese.
“My confidence completely dropped. I was like, do I wanna play basketball anymore?” Reese told former New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall and Ashley Nicole Moss on the I Am Athlete podcast in 2023.
“Like I had high expectations,” Reese continued. “Everybody thinks I’m gonna do this. But I didn’t even believe I could do it anymore. Because I thought I gained my love for the game back and then I lose it again.”
Props to Reese for getting her iconic confidence back after this dark period.
