DEAL TERMINATED: Grayson Allen Finally “TURN DOWN Phoenix Suns and Grayson Allen finalize contract extension after career-best season….
PHOENIX (AP) — After the best NBA season of his career, guard Grayson Allen has reached a multi-year contract extension with the Phoenix Suns.
ESPN reports that the agreement, which was made public on Tuesday, is worth $70 million spread over four seasons.
The 28-year-old Allen led the NBA in 3-point percentage (46.1%) and scored a career-high 13.5 points per game. Being one of the few reliable players on the squad, he helped All-Stars Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal establish themselves by providing steady floor space and long-range shooting.
In the Western Conference playoffs, the sixth-seeded Suns will take on the third-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves.
“I adore Phoenix and have faith in our ability to accomplish here,” Allen stated in a release. “I appreciate the organization and Mat Ishbia welcoming me. I’m thrilled to commit to staying in this town and growing with this team for the long run.
In his sixth NBA season, Allen has represented the Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies, and Utah Jazz. Duke was his collegiate basketball team.
With Grayson Allen’s upcoming free agency, the Phoenix Suns wasted little time in making a move.
The team and Allen have reached a four-year, $70 million contract agreement that includes a player option, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Monday. Wojnarowski mentioned the consequences of the salary cap that required a deal
After his sixth NBA season, Allen, who turns 29 in October, just finished his best campaign. With an NBA-best 46.1 percent from three-point range and a career-high 13.5 point average on 49.9 percent shooting, he also had a 64.9 effective field goal percentage.
After being chosen by the Utah Jazz with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft, Allen started his career with them. However, Allen was only in town for one season before the Jazz traded him to the Memphis Grizzlies in a five-player transaction that resulted in Mike Conley’s return.
Utah traded Allen to the Milwaukee Bucks two years later. Following two more seasons there, Allen was traded to the Suns as part of the massive three-team trade with the Portland Trail Blazers, which also included Damian Lillard.
