Bruins Defender Flattens Senators Star
The Boston Bruins’ 2023–24 campaign came to an unsatisfactory end as they were defeated 3–1 by the Ottawa Senators. They only managed 12 shots in the opening two periods due to their dreadful play. They rallied in the third to tie the score, but the Senators’ heartbreaking empty-netter was caused by a costly error by David Pastrnak. Boston then lost their first-place standing in the Atlantic Division.
Although the season-ending game for the Bruins was disappointing, Andrew Peeke added some thrills. With a stunning open-ice hit, the 6-foot-3 defenceman completely destroyed Thomas Chabot, the standout defenseman for the Ottawa Senators.
When the Bruins acquired Peeke at the deadline, their hope was that he would make their blue line tougher to go up against. It is easy to understand their reasoning, as Peeke is known as being a hard-nosed, defensive defenseman. So far, he has lived up to expectations, and this latest hit on Chabot only further displays that.
Now, the Bruins will be hoping that Peeke’s very physical style of play makes him a significant player throughout the postseason. They will need him to slow down superstars Mitch Marner, William Nylander, and Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
