The midfielder made his international debut for Brazil this year
According to reports, Arsenal are leading Manchester United in the competition to sign Joao Gomes, a midfielder for Wolves. Throughout his first full season with the team, the 23-year-old has made an impression on Gary O’Neil’s side.
Gomes made a £15 million deal from Flamengo to Wolves in January of last year. Since then, he has made 42 appearances for the squad. Gomes has started 25 Premier League games this season. He was called up to the Brazilian national squad due to his impressive performance.
During the March international break, Gomes made his debut for Brazil by playing in a friendly match against England. Despite interest from United, O Dia asserts that Arsenal is the front-runner to get Gomes in the summer transfer season. It appears that the Gunners will attempt to negotiate with Wolves this summer for the midfield player, who is under contract with the club until 2028. Rumors from last month stated that Man United was thinking about replacing Casemiro with Gomes.
With his impressive performance against Arsenal’s London rivals, Gomes has been nominated for the February Premier League Player of the Month award.
