Watch: Marlon Humphrey Not Happy About Losing Geno Stone to the Bengals
Cincinnati — In free agency this offseason, the Bengals signed former Ravens safety Geno Stone, and on his most recent podcast, former colleague Marlon Humphrey made light of the development.
“I think it’s strange that this guy actually got to the Bengals. You know, you never truly understand the extent of the division until, say, your buddy, my guy, gets summoned up to the operations. “Bro had dinner with the boys last night, Joe Burrow and all the guys,” I said to myself. I think, “That’s nice.” I’m really pleased for him, but every time I feel joy, I’m reminded, “Bro, you’re with the Bengals now.”
Since Stone’s arrival in the league in 2021, Humphrey and Stone have been defensive running partners. Now that Cincinnati is attempting to capture its third AFC North championship in the previous four seasons this autumn, they are on different sides of the division.
NFL Teams Reportedly Lower on Jackson Powers-Johnson Than Media Consensus
“In talking to scouts over the past two weeks, it sounds like teams are not as high on Oregon center Jackson Powers-Johnson as the media consensus,” Miller wrote. “JPJ had a strong early performance at the Senior Bowl before leaving the second practice with a hamstring injury. It was that early impression that saw him rise up draft boards. He followed that up with a good showing in position drills at the combine but didn’t participate in most of the other drills. The feedback I’ve received from teams is that while he might go in the first round, it’s unlikely that he would be selected in the top 25 picks based on where teams are ranking him.”
Powers-Johnson impressed teams at the Senior Bowl, but it doesn’t sound like he’s in play for the Bengals at No. 18. He didn’t do agility drills at the combine.
Could he fall to them in round two? It’s unlikely, but don’t be surprised if Duke lineman Graham Barton is taken before Powers-Johnson on draft day.
