Two Giants Players Announce They’re Leaving Team This Offseason
With the official conclusion of the New York Giants’ 2023 season on Sunday, coaches and players may finally start their offseason.
The Giants, who have only won six games this season—a significant down from their 9-7 record in 2022 when they made the playoffs—will attempt to enhance their roster at several positions.
We already know that two players will not be on the Giants roster for the upcoming season as we get set for a crucial offseason.
Giants News: Cam Brown and Carter Coughlin Not Coming Back in 2024 On Monday, the linebackers for the Giants posted on social media to bid farewell to their fan base.
Following the Giants’ firing of special teams coordinator Thomas McGauhey, Brown and Coughlin, who were key members of the special team, are getting ready to go. McGaughey played for the teams for six seasons, spending several of those years with Big Blue.
The Giants’ special teams performed appallingly this season, finishing dead last in field goal percentage (71%, 21 of 33 completed field goals), 30th in kick return average (19.2 yards per game), and 19th in punt return average (8.9 yards per game).
After being selected by New York in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Brown lived in the Big Apple for four years. The former Penn State linebacker played in 16 games this season, totaling just eight combined tackles and one forced fumble.
The Giants selected the 26-year-old Coughlin in the seventh round of the 2020 draft, and he played for them for four seasons as well. In 17 games this season, the 6-foot-3 linebacker tallied nine tackles in total.
The Giants will attempt to replace the vacancies left by the two veteran linebackers and find a new special teams coach this offseason, so Brown and Coughlin will try to hook on somewhere else.
