AC Milan push to close deal for Real Madrid fullback Alejandro Jimenez
Alejandro Jimenez and AC Milan are in advanced talks to seal a permanent deal.
This season, the fullback is on loan from Real Madrid to Milan, with a €5 million permanent option.
Milan, according to TMW, has had enough and is ready to seal a deal in the upcoming days.
Milan wants to agree to a buy-back option for Real Madrid in addition to negotiating terms that are less than the initial agreed upon sum.
Jimenez’s contract at Real expires in 2025.
Real Madrid seem to have confirmed their first sale of the season as it has been reported by Gianluca Di Marzio that AC Milan have agreed to retain the services of Alex Jimenez on a permanent move.
The final transfer fee has been reported to be less than €5 million, and had been previously agreed upon when Jimenez first moved to Milan on loan.
Touted as a player with a high ceiling, Madrid have not fully let go of Jimenez. They have included a buy-back clause in his contract.
Although the exact numbers have not been reported, the journalist claims them to be higher than the €5 million sum agreed. Milan even tried to renegotiate the terms of the final purchase clause, but it seems Madrid refused to budge from their stance.
Milan tenure so far
The Spanish teenager joined Milan at the start of the 2023/24 season on loan from Real Madrid Castilla.
The Serie A giants desperately needed reinforcements in full-back areas and considered Jimenez as a long-term project and as someone who could alternate between the senior and the U19 side.
Jimenez has been called up to the senior side often, and has played five games, too, including nearly 15 minutes in the 1-0 win over Napoli.
Unfortunately, though, he was also a starter for the Milan side that lost 1-2 against Atalanta in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. He gave away a penalty during the game, as well.
With negotiations with Real Madrid nearly complete, Milan’s priority will be to discuss the final contract with Jimenez before officially announcing the deal.
They plan to call the Spaniard’s agents to the club soon, and reach an agreement on personal terms. This will likely see him get an official promotion, or at the very least, a promise of one in the next year or so.
Madrid, meanwhile, pocket €5 million, which can go towards signing a replacement for Daniel Carvajal next season. Every penny counts.
