Bills put Zach Davidson on injured reserve
Zach Davidson, a tight end, lost his chance to sign with the Bills on Wednesday.
According to the NFL’s daily transaction wire, Davidson has been placed on injured reserve by the Bills. He cannot be activated later this year and can only play again in 2023 if he is released after receiving a settlement for his injuries.
Davidson was selected by the Vikings in the fifth round of the 2021 draft, however he did not make it out of training camp. He was waived again the previous year and ended up spending the season on Buffalo’s practice squad before being added back to their roster.
The remaining tight ends on Buffalo’s 90-man roster are Joel Wilson, Quintin Morris, Dawson Knox, and Dalton Kincaid, a first-round selection.
Davidson’s 2023 campaign came to an end on Wednesday when the Bills placed him on injured reserve due to an unspecified ailment, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.
After spending the 2022 season on the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills, Davidson—a fifth-round pick by Minnesota in 2021—signed a futures contract with the team in January. But after supposedly getting hurt during the team’s offseason training, he’ll either miss the entire 2023 season or have to reach an injury settlement with the Bills. Davidson has not yet made an appearance in a regular-season NFL match.
TE Zach Davidson was officially placed on injured reserve by the Buffalo Bills, according to the NFL Transactions wire.
Davidson, 24, was initially selected out of Central Missouri in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he was one of the last players removed from Minnesota’s roster, and he joined the practice squad.
Once more, in August of last year, he was one of the final roster cuts made by the Vikings before he made an impact with the Bills. In January, Buffalo signed him again to a futures contract.
Davidson played in 36 games over his three years in college, hauling in 51 receptions for 1,133 yards (22.2 YPC) and 18 touchdowns.
