Steve Sarkisian Explains Importance Of Being ‘Obsessed’
The Texas Longhorns have been striving to reclaim the success that they seemed to have each and every year for more than ten years.
They were eventually able to play at that high level again in 2023, but they now need to maintain it rather than having it be a one-time occurrence. Head coach Steve Sarkisian told the reporters that they must approach everything they do going ahead with the appropriate mindset.
“Obsessed” is the one word Sarkisian said sums up the proper mindset and motivation.
Sarkisian remarked, “I think the key to being obsessed is that you have to love what you do.” “You have an obsession with what you enjoy doing. You’re confident in your abilities. You act without fearing anything. You’re devoted to the goal. You have a strong commitment to your work. In the end, the benefit of that is that you’re devoted to and working for something.”
While everyone aspires to win a championship, only a select few actually do, that is the objective Texas is aiming for in 2024.
The Longhorns are among the twelve teams who have the potential to win a championship, and in 2023 they came dangerously close to achieving so.
This can be attributed in large part to Sarkisian’s culture reset, and if all of the gifted players they added can embrace his ideas and methods, they will be unbeatable against any team in the nation.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is intense. The intensity is optimal and necessary for the Longhorns to continue to win at their current level.
Sarkisian has impressed the importance of that intensity for his players. The team’s seeming motto of the offseason is obsession with performing at a championship level. It’s likely a mindset Sarkisian picked up from his mentor, former Alabama head coach Nick Saban.
Obsession isn’t optimal in every facet of life, but obsession with perfecting one’s craft works in the football program’s favor. The Longhorns’ spring is set to revolve around reaching the team’s potential and doing what is necessary not to lose to high scoring teams like Oklahoma and Washington. It looks to improve on both sides of the football to achieve that goal.
