Rams re-sign WR Demarcus Robinson to one-year contract
Demarcus Robinson, a wide receiver, was re-signed by the Los Angeles Rams on Wednesday for a one-year deal.
Terms weren’t made clear.
Robinson has 26 receptions for 371 yards and four touchdowns during his previous season with the Rams.
Week 9 saw Robinson without a target even though he signed with Los Angeles in June. Having caught a touchdown in four straight games, he was a major factor in the Rams’ late-season push for the playoffs.
Robinson, 29, finished the season as the third-best receiver for the Rams, behind youngster Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp.
Robinson spent his first six seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs after being selected in the fourth round in 2016. He caught 48 catches for 458 yards and two scores in 17 games for the Baltimore Ravens in 2022.
Robinson has 219 catches for 2,508 yards and 20 touchdowns in eight seasons.
Following the NFL’s recent limit increase, the Los Angeles Rams will have over $46 million in available cap space this offseason, making them major players in free agency.
And according to numerous sources, they have already started making roster changes, re-signing veteran wide receiver DeMarcus Robinson to a $5 million, one-year contract.
Robinson signed a one-year contract with the Rams in June of last year, following stints with the Chiefs, Ravens, and Raiders.
Robinson’s loss in particular may have had a significant effect on the Rams this offseason, as he emerged as a key component of the offensive attack in the second half of the season.
But now that Robinson is returning to Los Angeles in 2024, the Rams should have one of the strongest wide receiver corps in the NFL once more.
Robinson participated in 17 games, starting four, during his one season in Los Angeles, which included the team’s postseason loss to Detroit last month. He made 29 catches on 42 targets for 415 yards and four touchdowns.
Even if those stats don’t exactly shout “difference maker,” it’s crucial to remember that Robinson didn’t register a reception until November 5 against the Packers and didn’t establish himself as a mainstay in the offense until December 3 against Cleveland.
Actually, Robinson caught 24 passes for 363 yards and four touchdowns in the six games he participated in, starting with the Browns game and ending with the playoff loss.
Now that they have Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, a young player, the Rams have a talented outside line-up for the upcoming campaign.
