Cowboys BREAKING: Tyron Smith to Sign with Aaron Rodgers’ Jets
FRISCO: Tyron Smith’s “open door” with the Dallas Cowboys is been closed. A golden age for “America’s Team” also follows.
Though it took a few days into NFL free agency, it was virtually inevitable that Tyron, a seasoned Pro Bowl left tackle, would sign with Aaron Rodgers’ New York Jets. This news came as if on Friday.
COO Stephen Jones remarked on Thursday, “The door is open,” before heaping more praise. “Football player Tyron Smith will go into the Hall of Fame. He’s had a fantastic career, and we haven’t closed the door on him staying in Dallas to pursue his profession. He’s among the best left tackles in the history of the sport. This organization feels more strongly about Tyron Smith than anyone else.
However, there was definitely still something that stood in the way of a reunion.
The Cowboys are obviously in “one-year contract” mentality, even if no other team has made Tyron an offer that would blow him away.
We’re willing to wager that the Dallas Cowboys were reluctant to give 33-year-old Tyron Smith much of a chance given our anticipated “Blow It Up!” renovation. and perhaps not for a number of years.
He didn’t stop searching.
The Jets’ offer is reportedly good for one year. but one that pays well.
Smith has been outstanding here throughout the course of the last 13 seasons, receiving eight Pro Bowl nominations, five All-Pro team selections, and a berth on the NFL’s 2010 All-Decade Team. We also know that Tyron has a unique affinity with the Jones family, as CowboysSI.com has frequently chronicled.
However, he now has a new task: to build a rapport while operating in front of Aaron Rodgers, Dallas’s longtime rival.
