BREAKING NEWS! BIG SURPRISE CELTICS ANNOUNCING! 2 TRADE
The prospect of a reunion between Kelly Olynyk of the Utah Jazz and the Boston Celtics has been extensively covered in the media. However, there have been whispers that the Celtics may be interested in trade for another Jazz player.
Boston’s front staff has taken an interest in Italian forward Simone Fontecchio, according to Tony Jones of The Athletic. The Celtics and Phoenix Suns are the two clubs that Jones names as being interested in trading for Utah’s starting small forward. “Both teams need to improve their second units, and since Fontecchio is in the last year of a contract that pays him $3.1 million, Phoenix and Boston can easily get to that figure.” million annually.”
“Fontecchio has emerged this season as an effective rotation-level player,” he adds. “He has shot the ball well, particularly since being inserted into the starting lineup. He’s also proven to be at least an adept wing defender.”
As Jones correctly points out, “the Celtics need frontcourt depth, and Fontecchio would be a good fit there.” His stature and length as a shooter will enable him to play alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in lineups. On the floor, he has no fear.
He continues, “The Celtics are in a better spot and have a few firsts at their disposal.” However, we believe that anything more than the first round selection in the upcoming draft would be excessive, and that would only be the case if no players were being traded.
We believe that a trade of three or maybe four second-round picks would be more equitable for all sides, and Fontecchio is the type of bigger forward that Boston is supposedly searching for.
