Buffalo Bills plan to release RB/KR Hines Nyheims
WKBW, Buffalo, New York The Buffalo Bills want to cut loose running back and kick returner Nyheim Hines, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
According to a source, the Bills want to release RB/RS Nyheim Hines this week. According to a source, Hines will most likely return for training camp after suffering an ACL injury last summer.
Hines had an ACL injury in a jet ski accident over the offseason, thus he was unable to participate this past season. One struck Hines, injuring his MCL as well as his ACL.
Hines was most useful on special teams during his tenure in Buffalo. He returned two kickoffs for touchdowns in Buffalo’s first-ever Week 18 game against the New England Patriots in 2022–2023 game following Cincinnati’s cardiac arrest of Damar Hamlin.
I don’t mean to sound dramatic, but I think the kick return vs the Patriots was the most memorable play I’ve ever seen.
Two of the Buffalo Bills’ backup running backs are already scheduled to become unrestricted free agents, and a third is now anticipated to be officially released from the team.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Bills want to cut running back Nyheim Hines “this week.” The 27-year-old was moved from the Indianapolis Colts to Buffalo in the middle of the 2022 campaign; however, he missed the whole 2023 campaign due to an unexpected ACL injury he sustained while skiing last summer.
If he signs with a new team, he should return in time for training camp. Schefter also reports that Buffalo will free up $4.6 million in cap space.
Schefter tweeted, “Bills plan to release RB/RS Nyheim Hines this week, per source.” “Hines most likely will be back for training camp from the ACL injury that he suffered last summer, per source.”
Hines’ Week 18 victory over the New England Patriots to end the 2022 regular season was the high point of his tenure in Buffalo and maybe the most unforgettable event of his NFL career to date. Hines recovered the opening kickoff for a score in what was the Bills’ first game back following the Damar Hamlin incident. Buffalo won 35-23. Hines did it again in the third quarter.
