Source: Cowboys ‘Interested’ in Trade for Haason Reddick; Would Eagles Deal in NFC East?
FRISCO – Trading sack lord Haason Reddick is a very real possibility for the Philadelphia Eagles, who will once again have to make some tough decisions on how to fit a crowded squad under the salary cap.
Additionally, an NFL source confirms to CowboysSI.com that the Dallas Cowboys are seriously considering their options for signing Reddick.
Howie Roseman, general manager of the Eagles, is handling the situation while in Indianapolis on Tuesday for the NFL Scouting Combine.
Roseman declared, “Haason is obviously an incredible player for the Philadelphia Eagles.” “Local child, amazing achievement tale. I cherish owning Haason.
However?
Anything you’re attempting to accomplish, in my opinion, is an attempt to combine your current style with your intended future appearance, according to Roseman. That seems like the most difficult task. I’d prefer not to discuss specifics from talks with players, but I have the utmost regard for both the individual and the athlete.
The Cowboys have “respect” for Reddick as well, which is why our source mentions Dallas and Jacksonville as among the teams that are “interested”
in taking action. (We haven’t verified the rumors above, but they involve Detroit, Houston, and New England.)
Among Dallas’s problems? The Eagles and Cowboys are both concerned about cap space, and Reddick is the talk of the trade community. Reddick refuted the details of the story, but it was claimed that he was just given permission to look for a suitor. The buzz centers around Reddick’s potential pay demands. (He is a $15 million APY star who appears to be seeking a promotion.)
Of course, there is also the reasonable barrier of Reddick—who turns 30 in September—having a contract with the NFC East. According to a source close to the Eagles, Philadelphia would definitely prefer not to do that.
Furthermore, Reddick is a Haddon native.
Not far from Philadelphia is Heights, New Jersey. He performed at Temple, in the heart of Philadelphia. Stranger things have happened, but for a lot of people, Reddick wearing a Dallas uniform would be strange.
However, Reddick is a top-tier defensive end’s finest pass rusher. He had 11 sacks the previous season and has now had double-digit sack totals in four seasons. And if Dallas is indeed “going all in” (the key and somewhat questionable phrase here being “truly”)? It would be a tremendous gain to add a top edge to a defensive front that already had DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons.
The issue of receiving payment in exchange for Reddick? Right now, who knows? Particularly considering that whatever Philly wants to do that would be cap-friendly has to happen after June 1.
… at which point he will likely receive draft selections in 2025.
The Eagles may cut him and save $16 million under the salary limit if the Cowboys and other clubs push their hand and hope he is released with a post-June 1 designation.
Roseman declared, “This is our salary-cap money.” “As time goes on, we do have a lot of guys making a lot of money, so we really need to make sure we’re still making the right decisions with it.”
See it as a warning that Philly may have to bid a very good player farewell. What Jerry Jones’s Cowboys decide to do about it might be a fantastic way to gauge the true meaning of “all in” within The Star.
