Red alert; Gary O’Neil OUT OF WOLVES today’s latest news from wolves
West Ham United backed to target English manager repeatedly praised by David Moyes
It is anticipated that this summer, West Ham United will give Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Gary O’Neil some thought.
Starting in 2024, the Hammers have been in terrible shape.
Since the beginning of the year, West Ham has lost their past three league games and has not won any.
As a result, David Moyes is under a great deal of pressure, particularly because his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
A number of possible successors for Moyes are already being considered by West Ham, including Graham Potter, Steve Cooper, and Julen Lopetegui.
All three of those people are currently unemployed, however one Premier League manager who is employed has been mentioned as a potential target.
West Ham United to sign Gary O’Neil?
Give Me Sport was informed by transfer insider Dean Jones that he wouldn’t be shock if West Ham glanced at Gary O’Neil.
Although Jones praised O’Neil’s efforts at Wolves as “brilliant,” he thinks Molineux will now be the target of vultures.
Jones said that O’Neil may be a player that West Ham should approach. That includes O’Neil as well as elite players like Pedro Neto.
“The Wolves find themselves in an odd circumstance at the moment. Their main concern at the beginning of the 2023–2024 season was being demoted. They are currently in a very comfortable position, but the players who helped them get there will now be targeted by other Premier League sharks who want to devour Wolves and get them out of there.
“I think O’Neil has done an amazing job thus far, and if that is the kind of manager that did interest West Ham from the top flight, it wouldn’t totally surprise me if they did end up having to look back into the Premier League.”
O’Neil does have some history at West Ham.
O’Neil joined West Ham in 2011, spending two-and-a-half years in East London whilst racking up 56 appearances and three goals.
The forty-year-old, who excelled at Bournemouth before starring at Wolves, is currently drawing attention as a manager.
Moyes, the manager of West Ham, who O’Neil is being tipped to perhaps replace in East London, has also shown an interest in O’Neil.
Moyes said that O’Neil had done a “brilliant job” at Bournemouth and that the Cherries were now a “really good team.”
Earlier in the season, Moyes praised O’Neil as well, saying that he was developing into a young manager and was doing a “great job” at Molineux.
Although it would shock us to see O’Neil leave Wolves for West Ham at this time, we can’t really blame the Hammers for showing interest—given that compliment, Moyes could even be sympathetic.
