Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass deletes social media accounts after getting threats following missed field goal
In response to what seemed to be online threats after he missed the game-tying field goal in Sunday’s divisional playoff defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, Tyler Bass, the kicker for the Buffalo Bills, deactivated his social media accounts.
Ten Lives Club, a charity cat adoption organization, is holding a fundraising event in support of Bass as a result of the bullying.
Bass was referred to by the nonprofit as a “friend” who gave of his time to assist it and rescue kittens last year in a Facebook message.
“OUR SUPPORT IS FOR TYLER BASS. AVOID HURTING OUR FRIEND Ten Lives Club stated, “We recently learned with great sadness that following yesterday’s game, Tyler Bass is being threatened and our phones are ringing nonstop with requests to pay $22 to Ten Lives Club in Tyler’s honor.
The “Tyler doesn’t deserve any of the hate he’s receiving,” the group continued. In addition to being a fantastic football player, he is a kind person who last year took the time to support our charity and rescue kittens. Give our pal some space.”
Looks up Bass’s social media profiles The profiles don’t exist or could have been deleted, according to prompt messages that appeared on Instagram and X on Tuesday.
On its website, Ten Lives Club describes itself as a non-kill group whose mission is to lower the number of cats put to death due to overpopulation.
At home in Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, the Bills were down 27–24 when Bass missed a 44-yard field goal that went wide right. The Chiefs, the defending Super Bowl winners, prevailed by the same score and advanced to play the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC championship.
When it comes to the Bills and their supporters, sometimes referred to as the Bills Mafia, the terms “wide right” have been among the worst.
In the 1991 Super Bowl, Bills kicker Scott Norwood failed to convert a 47-yard field goal that would have won the game against the New York Giants. Giants victory, 20-19.
The Bills would go on to lose the following three Super Bowls, ceding their place in sports history.
The game on Sunday has attracted national attention due to pop sensation Taylor Swift’s behavior, since she dates the Chiefs’ sensational tight end Travis Kelce, in addition to the drama on the field. Jason Kelce, the brother of Kelce, joined Swift in a suite where he engaged with fans while pounding drinks and jumping into the stands while naked.
