In the next months, Detroit will play home to two major athletic events: the NFL Draft and the Midwest Regional of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
The NFL Draft will take place April 25–27 in and around Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit, while the Midwest Regional will be held March 29–31 at Little Caesars

In a recent interview with Lansing-based WILX-TV, Detroit Police Chief James White gave viewers the assurance that his department is prepared for the increased activity that the draft will bring.
Gun-free zones, helicopters, undercover cops, and the department’s real-time crime center will all help the department in its endeavors.
White told the Lansing TV station, “Very confident in our plan, very confident in our partnerships and certainly very confident in our community.”
For UCLA’s defense the previous two seasons, he was a formidable opponent. In 12 games last year, he recorded 13 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss.
Even after being a highly-regarded recruit, Latu’s path to this position wasn’t always assured. He started his collegiate career at Washington, where he played for two seasons in parts before sustaining a neck injury in the spring of 2020.At that moment, his injury would require him to retire medically. Nevertheless, in 2022, Latu registered with UCLA through the transfer portal after missing a season. He was one of the best defensive players in the Pac-12, and the rest is history.
