In Week 1, the NFL made life as tough as possible for the Philadelphia Eagles, a team that wants to get off to a quick start in 2024
When the company you represent wants you to be the star of a worldwide series, whether it be in business or another endeavor, you know you are doing something well as a brand.
But in the NFL, things operate a little differently.
For most firms, taking a team on a global tour can be a logistical nightmare. It’s never pleasant to have to practice away from the team facility when on a tight schedule and losing an important home game.
The NFL announced that the Philadelphia Eagles will host the inaugural game in Brazil to kick off the 2024 season, and that’s the reality they now face. The fact that this will be the NFL’s first-ever season-opening Friday game just serves to make things more bizarre.
The Eagles’ overseas season opener was not helped by the NFL. To begin with, the organization as a whole needs to get off to a quick start considering the club has lost six of its past seven games. There’s no assurance that they will on a vacation to South America abroad.
The Philadelphia Eagles now have to deal with the fact that the NFL said they will host the first-ever game in Brazil to begin the 2024 season. It gets even stranger when you consider that this will be the NFL’s first-ever season-opening Friday game.
The NFL did not help the Eagles’ season opening abroad. Firstly, with the team having lost six of its last seven games, the organization as a whole needs to get off to a fast start. That they will on a foreign holiday in South America is not guaranteed.
When Philadelphia last traveled abroad in 2018, they managed to come out on top. But they’ll be under far greater pressure to start 2024 strong.
The team’s pressure demonstrates why the NFL did not do much to help the organization in the lead-up to the next season.
Philadelphia was able to pull out a victory the last time they were overseas in 2018. They’ll be under far more pressure to kick off 2024 on a high note, though.
It’s that pressure on the team that shows why the NFL did the organization little favors in their upcoming season to start.
