Now Place a Bid on the Shoes Worn by Arizona Men’s Basketball Players
TUCSON, Arizona – Head coach Tommy Lloyd of the Arizona men’s basketball team, along with other members of the coaching and support staff, have been wearing unique shoes to raise awareness of cancer for the past week. On Thursday, February 1, when the Wildcats play California in the McKale Center, they will wear the shoes once more.
Fans now have the opportunity to bid on these unique shoes, with all proceeds benefiting the future Play Zone and cancer treatments at Diamond Children’s Medical Center.
Together with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and World Cancer Day on February 4, the team and Diamond Children’s Medical Center in Tucson have partnered to offer fans the opportunity to bid on these unique shoes worn by the staff members as part of the American Cancer Society’s “Coaches vs. Cancer” initiative. When the Wildcats defeated the Ducks in Eugene for the first time since 2015, it was on their road trip that the squad last donned the sneakers.
The men’s basketball team brought the brand-new Air Force One Nike sneakers to Diamond Children’s Medical Center, where they spent time coloring and painting the shoes with sick youngsters. This initiative to raise awareness of cancer was initiated by the men’s basketball team.
