Jamie Shackleton may get a new contract offer from Leeds United, sources have told Football Insider.
His Elland Road contract is about to expire at the end of the current campaign, but the Whites are eager to extend their offer to him in order to keep him from leaving on a free.
Although the 24-year-old hasn’t been able to lock down a regular starting position for the team vying for promotion, it’s said that manager Daniel Farke has been impressed.
Shackleton was in the starting lineup for Leeds’ FA Cup fourth-round draw against Plymouth Argyle last month (January 27), despite not having started a league match since the team’s 4-1 triumph over Huddersfield Town back in October.
This season, he has made 13 appearances in all competitions, and in their 4-3 victory over Ipswich Town in August, he recorded one assist.
The 17-year-old wonder Archie Gray, who was shifted from midfield to right-back, replaced the Englishman, who had started seven of Leeds’ opening nine Championship games this season.
After enrolling in the Yorkshire Giants’ academy in 2006, Shackleton went on to play 92 games for the team across all competitions.
Despite being a midfielder by trade, Shackleton has spent the majority of the season playing right back.
In addition, he has played right midfield, center midfield, and left back.
After Friday’s 1-0 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate, Leeds is now ranked third in the Championship standings. (2 February).
On Tuesday night, February 6, they will play Plymouth Argyle in an FA Cup fourth-round replay.

Former Hoops forward Frank McAvennie, in an exclusive interview with Football Insider, stated that Parkhead offered Anthony Ralston a new deal because they knew Johnston wouldn’t be there for very long.
The Celtics announced on September 26 that Ralston has signed a new four-year contract that will keep him at Parkhead through 2027.
In 2018, the 24-year-old inked a new contract with the first squad, continuing his nearly 15-year tenure at Celtic.
In previous seasons, Ralston has had difficulty getting into the starting lineup due to the absence of former right-back Josip Juranovic and current right-back Johnston.
Johnston joined the team in January of last year, just as rumors about Josip Juranovic’s future were starting to circulate. Later that month, Juranovic joined Union Berlin.
McAvennie maintained that Johnston will probably leave the Scottish powerhouses soon.
“Ralston is aware that Johnston is the best,” he said to Football Insider.
However, I believe he is going to leave in the next year or so, which is why they have restrained Ralston.
“People are returning from injuries now, so things are looking up.” I would really like to see the entire squad play and be thoroughly pleased.
Since joining the Hoops over a year ago, Johnston has made 25 appearances for the team after having a strong World Cup campaign with Canada.
In those appearances, the defender has provided two assists and one goal.

After Brendan Rodgers made some “baffling” post-match remarks following Sunday’s (10 December) loss to Kilmarnock, Celtic supporters are beginning to lose faith in the player.
After a spectacular comeback against the Killies, the Hoops lost 2-1 in the league, with goals from Matthew Kennedy late in the game and an own goal by Nat Phillips sealing Celtic’s first league loss of the year.
With a game remaining, Rangers behind them by just five points after they wasted so much in the first half. Derek McInnes’ team took advantage of this and pushed Rodgers to the limit in the second half to seal the victory.
Fans believed that Aaron Rodgers’s lackluster post-match interview did not adequately convey the gravity of the disappointing performance following the encounter at Rugby Park.
Some are sure that the 50-year-old is unfit for the position, and they have resorted to social media to badger the CEO.
His candor during the interview did not impress this supporter.
