Greetings for the morning. I, Craig Carton, will now provide the other side of the debate; you will have to determine which is stronger and more likely to go bad like bad milk on Sunday night. Here he is discussing the NFC Championship Game and how superior the San Francisco 49ers are vs the Detroit Lions on his show this morning.
We had not heard this viewpoint before. For what reason is laughing emanating from where exactly? Not the 49ers, of course, who are aware that Deebo Samuel may not play at all and, if he does, will be far from full strength. Not from the general panel of analysts, who have been amenable to a seven-point underdog beating the favorite on the way in. It’s possible that San Francisco prevails in a laugh fight, but it doesn’t seem likely at all.
Carton had earlier declared that the Lions could not win this game. Fortunately, he did refer to the city as a dump.
Unbeatable! In football, the second-best squad could never be defeated by the fourth-best club. An NFC powerhouse could never be defeated by a touchdown road dog. Why, to find an example of that you would have to go back to the Packers-Cowboys game.
All of this is amusing, but in my heart, I’m terrified that Carton’s remarks will turn out to be prescient. However, that is the issue with all pregame material. Nobody is aware! Anything at all! We adore sports because of this.
To even have the Lions in conversations like this is so strange. It’s clear that some of us aren’t managing it well. Apologies!
