2 May 2023: On April 29, 2023, online from Quezon City, NTUC Phl celebrated jointly International Safety Day (April 28) and Labor Day (May 1). Two topics dominated the celebration: (1) Gender-based violence (GVB), harassment and violence (VnH), and occupational safety and health (OSH) actions; and (2) Greater engagement from women and young people.
The President gave an update on the latest movements on VnH, OSH, collective bargaining, and other labor-related matters taken by NTUC Phl.
ILO Convention 190 legal and practical inadequacies in the Philippines were mentioned by DOLE Undersecretary Benedicto Ernesto Bitonio. He also mentioned that the ratification documents are at the Foreign Ministry, or DFA.
On the screen, brief descriptions of the measures taken by NTUC Phl and its affiliates on a variety of problems, including labor standards, free trade agreements (RCEP), and agriculture.

OSHC Director Maria Teresita Cocueco addressed the participants during her presentation and took questions on the Implications on
The participants were given a presentation by OSHC Director Maria Teresita Cocueco, during which she answered questions regarding the implications of OSH’s adoption as the fifth ILO Fundamental Principle for the Philippines. She gave an update on DOLE’s efforts to put the OSH law into effect and the steps being taken to change the implementing rules.
The implementation of NTUC Phl’s EBM for VnH handbook in collective bargaining was the topic of debate led by HGS C. Bagtas. ILO C190 language is present in the negotiated CBA provisions of 15 NTUC Phl local unions. On the same terms, other unions are bargaining. Instead of waiting for ratification, NTUC Phl unions are negotiating enterprise-based procedures that are necessary in any case.
The Committees on Women and Youth were reorganized. The Women Committee elected a woman as Chair and two vice-chairs (one for young women, one for young men), as well as co-chairs and vice-chairs (one from Luzon and one from Visayas-Mindanao).
