Lions Declare Changes to the Divisional Round Roster
For Sunday’s game, two players were brought up from the practice squad.
Prior to their Divisional Round matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, the Detroit Lions made announcements on their roster decisions.
Both defensive lineman Tyson Alualu and fullback Jason Cabinda were promoted from the practice squad to the starting lineup. For the second week running, both players have received an upgrade and are eligible to participate on game day.
Julian Okwara was further added back to the practice squad.
This season, Cabinda has participated in five games, including last week’s Wild Card game versus Los Angeles. Cabinda was released after spending a considerable amount of time on injured reserve and rejoining the active roster.
He rejoined the Lions on the practice squad after clearing waivers, and he has been promoted in each of the previous two games.
Alualu has been promoted for the fourth time in a row this week. The 14-year-old veteran’s last three games have seen him register five tackles.
The Lions are in a great position to extend their postseason run since a win would move them closer to the Super Bowl.
Veteran Taylor Decker stated that as a result, the squad is seizing the chance to keep moving forward in its pursuit of the largest football objective.
“I believe that the most important thing to remember in this situation is how we got here. And it’s just getting out there, putting in the effort and being ourselves as players each and every day,” Decker stated. “In the end, we are certain that our coaching staff will position us for success. We’ve worked hard to win the right to play this game at this stage.
“It wasn’t dumb luck that we ended up in this situation, so we’re excited for the opportunity just to get to keep playing and keep getting a chance to chip away at our goals.”
