Fox News Digital reported that a Texas-based bus company recently filed a lawsuit against Chicago over its “draconian” immigration deportation policies.
Wynn Transportation LLC accused “sanctuary cities” of turning their backs on asylum seekers.
In November, Chicago’s Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson issued new regulations impacting where and when bus companies can drop off immigrants, Blaze News previously reported.
Due to city regulations, there are only two buses per hour that can arrive between 8 a.m.
and 5 p.m.
Monday through Friday.
Bus companies must notify and obtain approval from the city government before transporting people into the city.
Businesses that don’t comply with Mr Johnson’s order could be fined $3,000 and their buses could be confiscated.
In addition to adopting new rules, the city of Chicago has filed more than 50 lawsuits against bus companies that transport immigrants.
According to the complaint, 77 buses violated city policy.
On January 5, Wynne Transportation LLC fired back and filed suit against Chicago for declaratory judgment and injunction.
According to WMAQ-TV, the city impounded one of the company’s buses.
The company claimed the measure imposes “strict requirements and severe penalties.
” “In exchange for welcoming immigrants and providing them with shelter, Chicago is making a move here by passing an ordinance targeting carriers who transport immigrants from the southern border to their desired destination, Chicago.
“Plaintiffs’ constitutional rights,” the lawsuit states.
“This lawsuit is about giving immigrants the opportunity to call Chicago home.
” The carrier’s complaint accuses Chicago of violating the U.S.
Constitution and the Illinois Constitution.
It also claims the city is violating the federal government’s authority to set immigration policy.
A news release from Republican Texas Gov.
Greg Abbott on Friday revealed that his administration has bused nearly 30,000 immigrants to Chicago since the summer of 2022.
In response to the city’s bus service restrictions, Abbott began sending planes carrying immigrants to Chicago.
In December, Abbott spokesman Andrew Maharelis said, “Unless President Biden steps up and does the job on border security, Texas will have to make a historic We will continue to take action.
