Falcons Head Coach Position Interviews with Eagles OC Brian Johnson

On Thursday, January 18, the Falcons announced that Johnson had conducted an interview for the position as head coach.
Atlanta sacked former head coach Arthur Smith after the team’s 7-10 record prevented them from making the playoffs.
According to reports, Johnson will also interview for head coaching positions with the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers.
The Falcons are said to have requested to speak with other NFL assistant coaches after interviewing a number of applicants. The following people have been interviewed by the team for the position of head coach:
On The Pat McAfee Show, Schefter stated, “I think the first names that are gonna come off a lot of people’s will be Ben Johnson (Lions offensive coordinator) and Brian Johnson.” “Those two guys should get a lot of interviews, in my opinion.”
Johnson led the Philadelphia Eagles to a 10-1 start in his first season as offensive coordinator. The Eagles’ season came to an end in the postseason Wild Card round, losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 32-9. Six of Philadelphia’s final seven games were losses.
The Eagles concluded the regular season as one of the NFL’s best offenses thanks to Johnson’s play-calling. With an average of 25.5 points per game, Philadelphia was placed seventh in the league.
The Barrett Station, Texas native was a standout player for the Utes prior to beginning his coaching career. Johnson was a Utah player from 2004 until 2008.
The former quarterback had a 66.2 percent completion percentage while throwing for 7,853 yards, 57 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions in his four seasons in Salt Lake City.
Johnson was Utah’s starting quarterback and finished with a program-best 26-7 record. A remarkable unbeaten senior season that culminated in a Sugar Bowl triumph over the Alabama Crimson Tide defined his career.
Johnson left the game and came back to Utah in 2010 to teach the Utes’ quarterbacks. Kyle Whittingham, the head coach of Utah, elevated Johnson to offensive
Johnson was brought on as Mississippi State’s quarterbacks coach two years later. He spent the entire 2016 season with the Bulldogs. Before accepting a new position in 2017, the former Ute worked as Houston’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for a single season. Dan Mullen, the former head coach of Florida and Mississippi State, tapped Johnson to lead his quarterbacks again, this time with the Gators.
Mullen elevated Johnson to the position of offensive coordinator for Florida after two seasons. Johnson spent a season in the role. The former star from Utah entered the NFL in 2021. Then, Johnson was appointed as Philadelphia’s quarterbacks coach by Nick Sirianni, the team’s first-year head coach.
