In a statement released on Monday evening, South Yorkshire Police said: “Earlier this evening (Monday, April 17), protestors gained entry to The Crucible, resulting in the detention of two individuals.” On suspicion of causing criminal damage, a 30-year-old male and a 52-year-old woman were taken into custody. Both are being held by the police.”
The four players were detained in the locker room until Allen and Fan resumed play at 8 p.m., or forty minutes after the incident, according to Eurosport, which also stated that the police were handling the situation. However, it was determined that Milkins and Perry would not play on table one any more.
The Just Stop Oil organization issued a statement shortly after the incident, following the suspension of play in the World Snooker Championship by two of its members.
“At around 7:20pm, two Just Stop Oil supporters have disrupted the World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, interrupting play,” they said on Twitter. “The two then painted the tables with orange powder paint before security pulled them out and took them into custody.
“They are demanding that the Government immediately stop all new UK fossil fuel projects and are calling on UK sporting institutions to step into in civil resistance against the Government’s genocidal policies.”
MC “Amazing scenes at the Crucible,” remarked Robert Walker, who had to assist with cleaning and vacuuming after commentating on the game.
“In my 25 years of viewing or working at this theater, I have never seen anything like this—everyone attempting to enjoy the snooker.

Stephen Hendry, a BBC analyst and seven-time world champion, said: “That was very terrifying, frankly. What will happen next, you ponder.
“Will the hoovers be removed? We were all observing it there when it took us by surprise. You may immediately ask, “Is the table recoverable?” in my opinion. Can it just be swept under the rug or ignored?”
Presenter Rishi Persad remarked, “History created at the Crucible, though not the sort we would like to see,” as they returned to the studio. Hopefully, though, it appears that nobody was harmed.
“While we did not anticipate protestors causing issues at the World Championship, these incidents are becoming more frequent. All of the athletes are exiting the arena.
