The loanee from last season is back on a long-term contract!
We now feature Hwang Hee-chan, the “new-boy” of the Wolves, in our Transfer Spotlight series. Because he played on loan during the previous season, the South Korean forward is already well-known to Wolves supporters and the Premier League. Hwang now permanently joins the West Midlands team from RB Leipzig, a German team, for a sum of around £14. His deal is valid through 2026.
Context
Hwang, a 26-year-old attacker, played for Bundesliga teams RB Leipzig and Hamburger SV in Germany for the previous several years before going on loan to Wolves. Having played for Wolves throughout the whole previous season, Hwang is well-known in the Premier League, as was indicated in the introduction. Hwang is a South Korean international with international caps who has made around 50 appearances. Hwang is a flexible attacker who can play in any position in the front line, however he usually plays in a front two immediately off the primary striker.
Imaginary Prospects
Hwang scored 45 goals in 126 games during his tenure in Austria, which was a respectable scoring record. Of course, it’s never easy to translate success abroad into the Premier League, but luckily, his loan period has given us a good idea of what he will be like going ahead.
Hwang entered the FPL last season with a budget price tag of £5.5 million, and it’s probable that he will start this season there as well. He got off to a great start in game week four of his debut season in England, scoring from the bench. He connected brilliantly with primary scorer Raul Jimenez to score a brace in the triumph against Newcastle three game weeks later. In game week nine, he scored another goal, but then
