- There are calls for Ted Cruz to be prohibited from all Texas sports events.
Some in the sports world are demanding that Senator Ted Cruz of Texas be prohibited from attending events in the state because of his infamous “curse.”
At the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Monday, the 53-year-old supported the Texas Longhorns. But in the Sugar Bowl, the team fell short 37–31 against the Washington Huskies; the victorious team advances to the championship game versus Michigan the next week.
Online jokers jumped on the politician, accusing Cruz of having a “curse” that caused the Longhorns to lose. Online rumors claim that whenever Cruz is in the crowd, his team loses; the senator is referred to as a “jinx” by fans.

Ted Cruz’s curse is genuine, and his detractors ought to release news releases tomorrow mocking him for ruining the Longhorns’ chances by showing up in person,” said Bhavik Lathia.
“Don’t let Ted Cruz say he cheers for your team. Daniel Ramirez remarked, “No matter what,” and @OrganizerMemes wrote, “Ted Cruz, I hate you [so much].”

In 2019, Cruz faced similar charges of “cursing” Texas Tech. Before the team’s defeat by the Virginia Cavaliers in the NCAA championship game, Cruz took a happy selfie with his phone.
Cruz was present as the Houston Rockets were eliminated from the NBA playoffs in 2018 by the Warriors, who defeated them 101-91.
Cruz used X in October to refute rumors that he brings bad luck to sporting clubs. Cruz referred to the authors of a Rolling Stone piece on the subject as “lying hacks.”
“For 7 years, Catherine [Cruz’s daughter] & I have attended nearly EVERY Astros home playoff game,” he stated.
Please give us credit for TWO World Series Championships and SEVEN consecutive ALCS victories if they’re going to hold me responsible for our recent home losses—we were there to support Stros!”
