Wolves vs Chelsea team news – as 10 players out injured and five doubts…
Wolverhampton Wanderers are in far better shape than Chelsea on the team news front ahead of the Premier League clash between the two sides on Christmas Eve.
Gary O’Neil only has four potential absentees for Sunday, whereas Mauricio Pochettino could be without up to 11 of his players. Yes, nearly a dozen.
Chelsea are still a huge threat even with their injuries, though, as they can still put out a very strong lineup. Wolves will have to be at their best to continue their fine home run.
Here’s the latest team news for both teams – including a promising update on Wanderers winger Pedro Neto.
1. Pedro Neto (Wolves) – doubt
Following a couple of months out with a hamstring problem, Neto could make a return to the matchday squad. “We’re really hopeful he’ll be in the squad for the Chelsea game, all being well,” O’Neil said on December 14.
2. Jose Sa (Wolves) – doubt
Sa had a collision in training last week, causing for a lack of movement in his shoulder. O’Neil is hopeful he’ll be available for Sunday.
3. Joe Hodge (Wolves) – out
The Irishman is expected back in the near future following surgery on his shoulder but the Chelsea clash comes too soon.
4. Jonny Otto (Wolves) – out
The versatile defender has been separated from the first-team group following a bust-up in training. As it stands, Jonny won’t play for Wolves again.
