Unexpected: Hendon Hooker, a rookie with the Detroit Lions, receives a status update before to Week 16
Hendon Hooker, a talented college quarterback, was added to the active roster of the Detroit Lions on Tuesday afternoon when he was activated off the Reserve/NFI list. On November 29, the Lions began Hooker’s practice session.
Before rupturing his ACL in the Tennessee Volunteers’ last regular season game, Hooker was among the top quarterbacks in college football last season. With two victories to go, Tennessee had a great chance to secure a spot in the CFP, but they lost to South Carolina and Hooker for the season all at once.
QB Hendon Hooker was activated from Reserve/NFI and K Riley Patterson was released by the #Lions.
Kicker Riley Patterson, who was sidelined for Week 15 against the Broncos due to a coach’s decision, was dismissed by the Detroit Lions to create place.
A highly intriguing quarterback prospect in the 2023 draft is Hooker. To start with, he is getting close to 26 years old and hasn’t played in more than a year. In addition, his ability to be a dual threat and accurate downfield may be just what the Detroit Lions need as their offense begins to wilt in the last games of the regular season.
Many Lions supporters on social media would advise you that Hooker need to begin playing right away. That is, however, extremely unlikely to happen this season unless Goff completely collapses. or harm. Ultimately, Goff managed to toss five touchdowns in a satisfying comeback victory against the formerly dominant Denver Broncos.
But just for fun, let’s play devil’s advocate here. With Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, and Amon-Ra St. Brown in an offense, Hooker’s dual-threat skill may be quite effective, especially if the Lions’ offensive line starts to regain health.
Here is Hooker in perfect health.
