The Celtics are aiming to capture the’magic’ of the Heat with their latest roster move.
The Boston Celtics have cut center Nathan Knight, who was on a two-way contract, and signed rookie wing Drew Peterson to a vacant two-way contract. The Celtics are hoping to capture the Miami Heat scouting “magic” by signing Peterson, who was one of the Heat’s final roster cuts this season. The move follows a similar move by the Miami Heat earlier this week.
Drew Peterson is set to join the Celtics on a two-way contract, primarily spending most of the season in the G League with the Maine Celtics.
Peterson, a talented three-point shooter with a strong passing ability, played in six games during the NBA Summer League. He averaged 7.7 points per game, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, with 44.4 percent shooting from the field, 40.9 percent from the three point line, and 71.4 percent from the free throw line. Peterson played college basketball at Rice and USC, where he played three seasons.
