A journalist suggests that Tottenham is currently hesitant to sell a £45m player.
Giovani Lo Celso, an Argentine player, is one of Tottenham’s longest-serving players but has been on the fringes for a long time. He has barely played a game this season, and there’s speculation about a potential January move for the midfielder.
Tom Barclay on The Tottenham Way Podcast suggests that Tottenham is not planning to sell Lo Celso this winter, as they prepare to lose key players to the African Cup of Nations.
Tottenham are not interested in selling midfielder Lo Celso, according to Barclay. Barcelona has a long-standing interest in Celso, but Spurs are not doing anyone any favors with a loan deal. With the African Cup of Nations coming up, they are looking to keep hold of players like Hojbjerg and Lo Celso. While Celso may not be a key player for Spurs anytime soon, keeping him around for the next few months makes sense. Spurs will be losing two key midfielders to the African Cup of Nations in January, and Lo Celso will be needed as a depth option. A season can swing on just a few bad performances, and if Spurs leave themselves short in the winter, they could be in trouble. Lo Celso may not have a long-term future at Tottenham, but he won’t be leaving in the January window.
