Rawalpindi flyovers have been confirmed for sports arenas under the cards.
The official launch of the project is contingent on the approval of the Punjab government.
The Rawalpindi district administration has submitted a plan to the Punjab government for the construction of a cricket arena and snooker play zone beneath the metro bus track. The initiative, a public-private partnership, involves collaboration with local businessmen and the district administration. The official launch of the project is contingent upon approval from the Punjab government. The project aims to repurpose vacant spaces beneath the Chandni Chowk and Sixth Road flyovers into sports facilities, providing opportunities for cricket and snooker enthusiasts. The Parks and Horticulture Authority will manage the administrative control of the cricket arena and snooker play zone. The cricket arena will offer facilities for night tournaments, and the initiative will collect minimum fees from players to ensure accessibility. The Rawalpindi administration will provide government space, while interested businessmen will construct necessary infrastructures. Commissioner Rawalpindi, Liaquat Ali Chatta, is actively involved in the project. The successful implementation of the cricket arena and snooker play zones may pave the way for similar projects in other vacant areas beneath metro track bridges.
